A $100 deposit is required to save the date for your wedding photography. Acceptable forms of payment are cash, check or credit card via PayPal.
How long will you shoot for?
If you choose the Wedding or Deluxe Package, I shoot for 6 hours. If you choose the Premiere Package, you receive UNLIMITED shooting! Six hours is typically enough time to shoot everything from the "getting ready" photos at the ceremony location to the bouquet toss at the reception.
What if I need you for more than 6 hours?
Additional hours may be purchased at $100/hour. This should be arranged before the wedding day but, if you need additional hours due to unforeseen circumstances, I am more than willing to accommodate you.
How many locations do we shoot at on my wedding day?
Typically, for the Wedding or Deluxe Package, I shoot at two locations: the ceremony location & the reception location. This includes a variety of spots on the grounds, to create different “backdrops” (for example, using the church garden for posed photos after the ceremony).
Will you travel to photograph my wedding?
Absolutely! If your location is within 15 miles of Ann Arbor, travel costs are included in the package. Otherwise, $1/mile is added to the cost of your package. If I need to stay overnight, you must cover the cost of lodging for myself and my assistant.
Why do you attend the rehearsal?
I attend the rehearsal for many important reasons:to touch base with you close to the wedding, to make sure I’m familiar with the location (& possible construction detours!) of the ceremony, to discuss photography rules with the church/ceremony location, so I know where everyone is walking & standing during the ceremony, and to scope out lighting conditions & take test shots.
How long does it take to see my photos, after the wedding?
It takes me approximately a month to edit your images & post them online.
How long does it take for you to complete my album layout?
Your album layout will be completed within two months of your wedding date.
Do I choose the photos in my album?
I chose the photos initially, based on which are my favorites and what looks best in the layout. Then, you can make changes once you’ve viewed the album layout. I will not place the album order until I have your final approval.
How many photos are included in my album?
Approximately 75-150 images are included in each album, depending on which package you choose. The Deluxe & Premiere Packages come with Zookbinders albums; since the pages are so much thicker in these albums, the length is limited. Wedding Package: 40 thin glossy paper pages, including 100-150 images Deluxe & Premiere Packages: 20 THICK pages, including about 75 images
How many photos do you typically shoot during a wedding?
I usually shoot 800-1200 images, depending on the amount of hours I spend with you.
Do you employ other photographers, or will you be doing the actual shooting?
I pride myself on being the sole photographer, and I will be shooting all the photographs at your wedding. My assistant helps with equipment & orchestrating the posed photos, and may do limited shooting if two photographers are necessary.
How long have you been a photographer?
I started studying photography in 2001, and began a small freelance business shortly thereafter. In 2004, I received my BFA in Photography from the University of Michigan School of Art & Design. In 2006, I opened Katie Halton Photography.
Do you shoot digital or film?
I shoot completely digital. I was trained on film, and processed in a darkroom, but made the switch about three years ago. I prefer the convenience that digital offers me and my customers, and believe the images are just as high-quality as film.
Do you shoot in color or black & white?
I shoot in color, but may easily convert your photos to black & white digitally. If you prefer to have blocks of shooting done in black & white, just let me know ahead of time and I would be happy to accommodate (for example, all the posed photos of the bride & groom).
May I contact a previous customer as a reference?
By all means, you may contact one of my previous customers as a reference if you’d like! Just let me know; I will tell them to expect a call/email from you, and then will supply you with their contact information.
